Pronouns for a dog

People are mad at me for considering using fae/faer pronouns, one of the pronoun sets I use for myself, for my next dog.

They say I must be trolling to not use the binary pronouns typically associated with that sex. I’m obviously not trolling. In fact I think I’m being quite progressive by not sticking to penis = he, vagina = she.

They say that I am dehumanizing nonbinary people because only humans have genders. In my opinion, this is straight up wrong. Lots of otherkin have gender. There are nonhuman people in systems with gender. For all we know, animals could have gender. Anyway, we use he/she/it/they for all sorts of things. Why can’t we use other pronouns?

They say I’m anthropomorphizing the dog, like the expected pronouns aren’t anthropomorphizing. I have to use some pronouns for the dog. So why not use fae/faer?

They also say that I’m giving fuel to bigots, like it’s my responsibility to act in an acceptable manner. Like my existence will ever be acceptable to bigots. Bigots will do whatever they can to get their way.
